Today we presented our project.
Notes:
Hellenistic - the blending of multiple cultures (Indian, Persian, Egyptian)
Alexandria - an Egyptian city that was the center of commerce and civilization of the Hellenistic.
Euclid - a geometry text developed by Eratosthenes and Aristarchus.
Archimedes - a Hellenistic scientist who estimated the value of pi and studied diameter, etc.
Colossus of Rhodes - the biggest Hellenistic statue.

Today in Western Civilization I took some notes:
Alexander's Empire:
Philip II: Dreamed of taking control of Greece and then moving against Persia to seize its vast wealth. Hoped to avenge the Persian invasion, in 480 B.C.
Macedonia: just north of Greece with rough terrain and cold climates. Hardy people lived there and were looked down upon by the Greeks, until Philip became king.
359 B.C. Organized his troops Macedonian's defeated 336 B.C.
into Phalanxes Greece

Philip became Demosthenes tried 338 B.C. Philip was killed at
king of Macedonia to warn Greece about Philip daughter's wedding.

Today is March 1st. In Western Civ, we just went over the project and then worked on some of it. We didn't really go over philosophy, but it's an interesting topic.
