Today we learned about a really weird story and also took some notes:
The Roman Republic:
republic: a government where power rests with citizens to have the right to vote for their leader.
patricians: wealthy landowners who held most power.
plebeians: common people
tribunes: protected plebeian rights against the rich interference.
consuls: two officials of Rome.
dictator: a leader with absolute power.
senate: 300 members, legislative and admin. and could possibly be plebeian.
legions: Roman soldiers in large units.
Punic Wars: Rome v.s. Carthage 264 - 146 B.C.
Hannibal: a military strategist.
Pax Romana: "Roman Peace"
