Democracy in the Golden Age:
Direct Democracy - Citizens rule directly without a representative
Classical Art - values of harmony, order, balance, and proportion
Tragedy - a drama about common topics and relations like love, hate, war, betrayal.
Comedy - scenes with slapstick situations.
Peloponnesian War - between the city-states Athens and Sparta. Athens = stronger navy. Sparta = stronger army.
Philosopher - thinkers or lovers of wisdom.
Socrates - A critic of the Sophists, thought their standards were nonexistent.
Sophists - A group of philosophers, with Protagoras, who he questioned greek gods and their existence.
Plato - a student of Socrates that wrote down some of his conversations before his death. Wrote The Republic in the 370s B.C.
Aristotle - Questioned the world's nature and humanity's belief and knowledge.
